As part of its corporate social responsibility, the State Bank of India will donate 48 lahks to plant 32,000 tree saplings at Garden City University, Bengaluru, in partnership with That’s Eco Foundation.
The project uses using Miyawaki Technique. Akira Miyawaki, a Japanese botanist, developed Miyawaki to create dense, native forests. This accelerates plant growth by ten times and densifies the plantation by 30 times. This method yields self-sustaining plants in 2-3 years. This method creates dense, multi-layered forests that lower temperatures, enrich the soil, support local wildlife, and sequester carbon.
SBI, Garden City University, and the Eco Foundation signed the MOU for the project.
