According to Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, the business has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) for the development of 5000 MW of renewable energy projects in the state of Maharashtra.
In the dignified presence of Maharashtra’s Deputy CM and Minister of Power, Sh. Devendra Fadnavis, and Principal Secretary for Energy, Smt. Abha Shukla, the MoU was signed. Sh signed the MoU. P. Anablagan, CMD, MAHAGENCO, and Smt. Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), SJVN.
According to Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, an MoU, has been inked to examine the viability of establishing several renewable energy projects in Maharashtra, including hydro, pumped storage, wind, solar, hybrid, and green hydrogen projects. The government of Maharashtra has issued tenders for the rehabilitation and modernization of small hydroelectric power stations run and managed by MAHAGENCO. Sh. Sharma further announced that SJVN and MAHAGENCO would compete in these tenders together.
As a result of the signing of this MoU, SJVN now has a project portfolio of 54065 MW, of which 2091.5 MW are currently in operation. The remaining MW are in various stages of development, and the company is progressing towards realizing its shared vision of 5000 MW by 2023–2024, 25,000 MW by 2030, and 50,000 MW capacity by 2040.
