The Lakadia-Vadodara Transmission Project Ltd. (LVTPL) is a new green energy corridor project commissioned by Sterlite Power, a private sector provider of power transmission infrastructure. The project intends to deliver more than 5 GW of energy from Gujarat’s renewable-rich Bhuj and Kutch regions to the national grid, hastening India’s economic transition to a greener one.
The interstate transmission project cost $244.4 million to construct. A 335 km, 7 65 kV double-circuit transmission line links the substation at Lakadia to Vadodara.
According to Sterlite Power, this electricity transmission corridor in Gujarat has 812 towers and spans seven districts, making it one of India’s most significant transmission corridors ever constructed. Also, it plays an essential role in the development of Kutch, which will house the world’s largest 30 GW hybrid renewable energy plant.
