Ambitious Targets for Carbon Emission Reduction

Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) has embarked on a monumental journey towards environmental sustainability by forging a transformative partnership with the esteemed Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) based in the UK. This collaboration, a profound testament to JSL’s unwavering commitment to a greener future, is poised to devise strategies and targets to propel JSL towards its audacious goal of net zero emissions. 

JSL has set audacious targets to eliminate its carbon footprint by 2050. The company plans to generate a remarkable 1.9 billion units of clean electricity annually to fuel this mission. By the targeted year, JSL envisions reducing carbon emissions by over 13.52 lakh tonnes per year, a feat that highlights its unwavering commitment to sustainability.

Comprehensive Assessment

As part of the SBTi partnership, JSL will comprehensively assess its greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory across its operations and value chain. This thorough assessment is a crucial step towards developing science-based targets that align with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, a global initiative to combat climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius.
