Andhra Pradesh Pioneers Green Industrialization at WEF 2025

Chandrababu Naidu Champions Green Industrialization at WEF 2025

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made a compelling case for India’s leadership in green industrialization at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Addressing a special session organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), he highlighted his administration’s commitment to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for green energy and hydrogen. His vision aligns with India’s broader mission to achieve sustainability, economic growth, and technological advancement.

Andhra Pradesh’s Vision for a Sustainable Future Gains Global Attention

Reflecting on his longstanding collaboration with CII since 1995, Mr. Naidu shared his experiences driving transformative growth. He cited Hyderabad’s evolution into a world-class IT, healthcare, and innovation hub as an example of the power of strategic leadership and infrastructure development.

“We have a demographic advantage, and Indian entrepreneurs, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh, are excelling globally,” he remarked. “India is poised to lead the world economy, with projections indicating significant GDP growth by 2027. From 2028 onward, it will be the Indian era.”

Expressing confidence in India’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Naidu described him as a “visionary leader” steering the country towards the ambitious ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ initiative. He predicted that by 2047, India would be among the top two global economies, with Indians playing a crucial role in wealth creation and innovation.

Green Industrialization and Sustainable Development

One of the core themes of Mr. Naidu’s address was the role of technology in shaping a sustainable future. He emphasized the need to harness AI, real-time data, and innovative industrial processes to drive progress while ensuring environmental responsibility. He announced that he would establish the Global Leadership Centre (GLC) in Amaravati to foster leadership in this space. The GLC is dedicated to equipping future leaders with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving world.

In line with his commitment to inclusive governance, Mr. Naidu championed the “P4 model”—a public-private-people partnership to foster community-driven development. He called on corporate leaders to actively address poverty and inequality, emphasizing that India’s greatest asset is its people. A key milestone was the exchange of a Letter of Intent between Switzerland’s IMD Business School and GLC, strengthening global cooperation in leadership training.

A Pioneering Force in Renewable Energy

Under Mr. Naidu’s leadership, Andhra Pradesh has made significant strides in renewable energy. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning the state as a major contributor to India’s clean energy goals, laying out a roadmap for expanding green hydrogen, solar, and wind energy.

Recalling his bold energy sector reforms in 1999, he shared how, despite initial challenges, those measures have positioned Andhra Pradesh as a powerhouse in renewable energy today. “The country once faced severe power shortages, forcing industries to shut down,” he said. “Despite political risks, I introduced critical power reforms, and today, we are reaping the benefits.”

His government’s aggressive push toward clean energy includes:

  • A $115 billion investment in the fuel sector will generate 500 MW of renewable energy and 500 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen by 2030.
  • Aiming to contribute 30% to India’s national renewable energy target, further solidifying Andhra Pradesh’s role as a sustainability leader.
  • Strategic collaborations, such as Prime Minister Modi’s recent $21 billion green hydrogen project, boost India’s clean energy capabilities.
  • Reliance’s ₹65,000 crore investment in biofuel initiatives within the state paved the way for large-scale sustainable energy solutions.

Global Partnerships and Economic Vision

Beyond domestic advancements, Mr. Naidu underscored the importance of international collaboration in achieving sustainability. Andhra Pradesh’s well-equipped ports, such as Kakinada, are poised to become key hubs for exporting green hydrogen and renewable energy products to global markets.

He also laid out ten guiding principles for the Vision 2047 roadmap, emphasizing:

  • Cost optimization and efficiency in energy production
  • Environmental balance and conservation
  • International trade partnerships to enhance India’s presence in the global energy landscape

A Bright Future for Andhra Pradesh and India

As the WEF 2025 session concluded, Mr. Naidu’s vision resonated with global leaders and industry pioneers. His unwavering commitment to sustainability, economic growth, and technological innovation paved the way for Andhra Pradesh to emerge as a beacon of green industrialization.

By embracing cutting-edge solutions, forging strategic partnerships, and championing clean energy initiatives, Andhra Pradesh is not only reinforcing India’s position on the global stage but also setting an example for other nations to follow.

With transformative leadership and a clear roadmap, Andhra Pradesh is set to be at the heart of India’s green revolution.
