India and Sri Lanka sign renewable energy MoU

Sri Lanka and India signed MoUs on renewable energy cooperation and Trincomalee energy center development.

In New Delhi, a Sri Lankan delegation led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe discussed energy cooperation strategy plans and investments to strengthen economic and energy ties. MOUs on Renewable Energy Cooperation, Trincomalee Energy hub development, and the Energy permit for the Sampur Solar Park were signed during the visit, allowing CEB and NTPC of India to begin work.

In the same meeting, Gautam Adani promised to finish the 500 MW Solar and Wind project in Mannar and Pooneryn by January 2025. The panel also deliberated upon India-SL grid connectivity, Green Hydrogen, Oil pipeline connectivity, and energy sector investments
