Goa aims for 100% renewable energy by the year 2050

Pramod Sawant, the chief minister of Goa, spoke at the “CII Goa Symposium on Clean Renewable Energy ” last week and stated that the state had set an ambitious aim of using 100% renewable energy in all sectors by 2050.

Over 15,000 jobs are anticipated to be created due to the initiative, 500 of which will be devoted only to the solar and wind energy-producing industry. The government will build 100 MW solar power plants throughout Goa as part of its commitment to producing 150 MW of green energy over the next two years. Also, the government has agreed to construct India’s first convergence project to produce green energy for consumption in rural and agricultural areas. It will shortly launch the project to produce inexpensive, clean energy.

For speedier renewable energy development in Goa, the Chief Minister has requested that the state’s departments and agencies sign an MoU with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA). The importance of green finance and the need for creative financing mechanisms to hasten the deployment of novel and developing renewable energy technologies, such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, e-mobility, offshore wind, etc., were emphasized by Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), IREDA.

The CII Goa Conference on Clean Renewable Energy 2023 aimed to promote the use of clean and green energy while giving the industry a chance to discuss the most recent engineering design techniques, best practices, and technologies that address practical issues with the use of renewable energy.
